Charlene Haykel is a communications consultant with 40 years’ experience developing marketing and educational materials for companies and public sector organizations. A former principal at three NY agencies, she is currently managing principal of The Haykel Group, a consultancy focused on effectively communicating complex information to lay audiences.
In 1998, she developed and trademarked a process called MacrosimplificationTM for applying the principles of document simplification across a broad swath of corporate communications. Since then, this process has framed her work with dozens of companies and led to transformative changes in how they viewed and managed their customer and corporate communications and budgets.
Charlene earned an MA in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill which recently named her its Hearst Visiting Professional. She also holds a BA in English from Daemen College in Buffalo, NY.
