Judging Criteria

The ClearMark and WonderMark Awards are judged by a committee of experts in the field.

ClearMark Judging Criteria

Judges rate each entry against the following criteria.

Basic Approach
Does the entry specify and consider who will use it, why they would use it, and what tasks they will do with it?

Design
Does the entry use design and layout to reinforce meaning and to make it easier for the audience to see, process, and use the information?

Structure
Does the entry use obvious and well-marked structure or navigation to mark the information so the audience can find the information they need?

Hierarchy
Does the entry help the audience distinguish between critical and less important information?

Language
Does the entry minimize jargon and use sentence structure, strong verbs, word choice, and other similar techniques to ensure the audience can read, understand, and use the information?

Impact
Does the Author—whether an individual or an organization—create a sense of reliability and trustworthiness?

Testing
Does the testing conducted seem appropriate for the combined impact, importance, and type and number of people who will use this entry?

Overall
Does this entry work?
